NEWFOUND WATERSHED STEWARDS

LRCC-NLRA- AmeriCorps Program

Newfound Watershed Stewards serve the Newfound Lake community as part of the Lakes Region Conservation Corps, a region-wide AmeriCorps program that serves the community and increases the capacity of conservation non-profits like the Newfound Lake Region Association. Stewards support water quality monitoring efforts, guard against invasive species, reduce and prevent stormwater erosion through innovative landscaping practices, and work with community partners on projects around the watershed.  Watershed stewards are encouraged to use the opportunity to build upon their skills and strengths while exploring their interests and helping the NLRA accomplish their mission to protect Newfound Lake and its watershed . This program is 22.5 weeks long. Stewards receive a weekly living and housing allowance and education award upon successful completion of the program. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the conservation field as well as a meaningful way to serve the community and protect important resources like Newfound Lake.
