Just Another Perfect Day in Newfound

Another Perfect Day in Newfound

The summer season has begun and there’s so much more to do at Newfound besides just swimming and boating!  Be sure to check out some of these other fun activities listed below. And while you are enjoying your perfect day, take photos so you can enter our photo contest — see details at the end of this email.

Join NLRA for Exploration and Education

Join NLRA for a National Trails Day hike on Saturday, June 3 from 9 am to 5 pm. Meet at the Elwell Trail parking just north of Wellington State Park beach on West Shore Road to explore some of Newfound’s finest conserved land with your friends, family and the NLRA. This is an easy-to-moderate hike with beautiful views (see map on right). Be sure to say hi if you see us on the trail!

NLRA is in the process of restoring the former Grey Rocks commercial area to more natural conditions using permaculture. Learn more about this ecological design process through a 90-minute film,  Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective, and discussion on Thursday, June 8 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Bristol’s Minot-Sleeper Library. This fascinating film addresses the environmental issues facing us today and how some can be solved through permaculture. Permaculture uses principles found in ecosystems to help shift our impact from destructive to regenerative. After the movie, take part in a discussion led by local permaculture leader, Steve Whitman.
