Steve and Nancy moved to this small country town in the late 70’s with no intention of being apple farmers, they were both teachers when they made the trek up to NH. After finding this small farm, they bought it with the intention of just trying to get some apples off of the trees for their own personal enjoyment. Over 20 years later, they both have left their careers in teaching and are now focusing their attention on the farm full time, with the help of their now 3 adult sons.
The orchard was very run down when the Bleilers first acquired it in the 70’s. After a lot of hard work, they were able to bring back almost all of the original trees and many more have since been planted. The total number of trees today numbers around 1000!
These days, the whole family is involved with the business in various ways. Everyone has worked very hard and sacrificed a lot to get this small farm on its feet, but we agree that it has been worth it.
We are a family business that has truly established itself, developing real roots in our community. It is important to us to work with other local growers to provide a wide range of fruit and vegetables. Our main focus is to raise apples and beginning in September, the orchard is open for picking your own apples. Pies, jams, apple butter and other homemade products are available in our seasonal store in the fall.
Our Country store
Thanks to overwhelming support from the community, Cardigan Mountain Orchard joined with local farmers, vendors, business people and residents to open Cardigan Country Store in 2013. Since that time we have strived to provide the freshest, locally-grown produce available in the area, as well as other artisan quality products.
We’re a local Bristol, New Hampshire florist delivering courteous, professional service and the highest quality floral and gift items around. Our experienced designers can create floral designs that will complement any occasion and meet your budget and style expectations as well. We also offer daily delivery to all local funeral homes and hospitals.
Owned and operated by twin brothers Brad and Jim Tonner, the shop features their original artwork and the children’s books that they have written.
