Discover Your Perfect Newfound Day
One of the best ways to enjoy Newfound’s natural beauty is by following the hiking trails that run through NLRA’s Goose Pond and Sugarloaf Ridge Conservation Area. Start your journey at Wellington State Park, or if it’s plowed, take the Elwell Trailhead on West Shore Road (located just north of the Park entrance). At this time of year, traction or snowshoes may be needed, but the views and fresh air are worth the trip!
Well-marked hiking trails take you to Goose Pond and the Sugarloaf Ridge. There is a classic 1.5-mile, round-trip loop to the summit of Little Sugarloaf (1,002 feet) that provides rewarding views of Newfound Lake, and on a clear day, the Franconia Range in the White Mountains. The back side brings you through quiet forest, then along the north side of Goose Pond. For a trail map, click here. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed, and owners are responsible for carrying out all pet waste.

They cater to gardeners seeking high-quality, attractive and durable products that are functional and easy to assemble. Mark and Christine are dog lovers that share their home with 5 dogs on a property high above Newfound Lake. They adopted Marley, their 4-1/2-year-old mix breed from a shelter in Connecticut and she became the inspiration for their business name and what they fondly call home. They love spending their time outdoors and were drawn to the Newfound Lake area for its beauty and four season outdoor recreational opportunities. When not busy in their workshop, they are most likely outside on the lake, in the garden, or hiking and snow shoeing with their dogs. When Mark isn’t outside, he loves playing guitar and singing to Christine as she works on her photography and art.
