Newfound Science Pub: Tapping into Wildlife Science
Join us for a conversation with Haley Andreozzi, extension state specialist in wildlife conservation at UNH, to hear about wildlife science in our state and how community members like you are collecting data and making a difference. The Newfound Watershed relies on community volunteers to help in water quality and invasive species monitoring, efforts that are vital to protecting the lake and the watershed. Similarly, there are programs across the state that use community participation to study wildlife. From rabbits to bats and beyond, these programs rely on community science and have important impacts for the wildlife and people of New Hampshire.
Newfound Science Pub connects the community to experts in science and conservation. Discuss current issues, ask your burning questions, and share your own perspective in a casual, social atmosphere.
Doors open at 5pm, program runs 6-7pm. Registration is required.
Register now!Nature Station Grab Bags: Getting Ready for Winter!
As construction continues at Grey Rocks, plants and animals throughout the watershed are finishing preparations for winter! In late fall it can be hard to predict the weather, but we know that cold and snow are on their way so it’s a great time to get outside when you have the chance- stop by the office during normal business hours for a Nature Station Grab Bag of activities to explore how nature settles in for winter. You can learn about local wildlife, go on a scavenger hunt, and get materials for a pine cone bird feeder! Nature Station Grab Bags are free to all and designed for kids of all ages.
Birding in the Hebron Town Forest
Join us for a guided bird walk at the Hebron Town Forest. Late-season migrants are moving through the area, plus the local winter bird community is becoming established. Birders will explore the meadow and woods at the Hebron Town Forest, learning to identify birds by sight and sound. This event is geared toward all people with an interest in exploring the natural world. Participants should be able to walk 2 miles.
