SUGARLOAF & GOOSE POND

Conservation Property and Trails

The Lakes Region Conservation Trust and the Newfound Lakes Region Association are proud to announce the permanent protection of 400 magnificent acres in Alexandria overlooking Newfound Lake, and encompassing the landmark ridge-lines of Big and Little Sugarloaf and much of the shoreline of pristine Goose Pond.

This gem of land includes unspoiled rugged and diverse habitat, including pristine Goose Pond.  There are miles of hiking rails, including the eastern end of the Elwell Trail, a key link in the route from Newfound Lake to Mt. Cardigan, and critical snowmobile corridors for winter use.

Access the property via Wellington State Park parking area, roughly 100 yards north and opposite the main Park entrance off West Shore Rd.  Both Wellington and Goose Pond / Sugarloaf Ridge properties are carry in / carry out, Leave No Trace natural areas.
