Dear Newfounder,

We’re so grateful for the community’s support of the long-term future of NLRA and the Grey Rocks Conservation Center. Over the next year I’ll be sharing regular progress updates.

We’re making great strides in securing support for the Grey Rocks Conservation Center and in the design and construction of the space!

Fundraising
We reached an exciting fundraising milestone in December—we have officially surpassed $1.5 million in gifts and pledges towards the project! We’re working to secure further grant, foundation, and individual support and are planning a broad, community-based fundraising campaign for the months ahead. Please get in touch with me if you would like to be a part of the fundraising effort as we work to inspire community members to invest in Newfound’s future.

Construction and Permitting
The preliminary architectural design for the Grey Rocks Conservation Center is complete, and we are working with our general contractor to ensure we have the proper permits and that all aspects of the Conservation Center fit within the guidelines of the conservation easement held on the Grey Rocks property.

The easement at Grey Rocks includes specifications for constructing a conservation center. The Lakes Region Conservation Trust holds the easement and will review all design plans and permits, ensuring the easement stipulations are followed. This is an important part of our commitment to protect Grey Rocks while creating a new community hub for education and conservation. I am so thankful for the early support of this project. The Conservation Center is uniting the community behind a shared goal to protect Newfound Lake, and the momentum and excitement continues to build each step of the way.

Please reach out to me with your questions and ideas or for more information.

With enthusiasm and excitement for the future,
